Pacemaker Placement

Pacemaker Placement

This procedure is used to insert a pacemaker, which monitors heart rate and administers signals to help the heart beat at a regular rhythm if necessary. Inserting a pacemaker usually takes place via cardiac catheterization. Symptoms of having an irregular heartbeat include feeling:

  • Dizzy
  • Lightheaded
  • Fatigued
  • Confused or disoriented
  • Short of breath
  • Faint

While this can be treated with medication, a pacemaker implantation is usually recommended to correct an inconsistent heart rate.
