Coronary Artery Disease (CAD)

Coronary Artery Disease

Coronary Artery Disease (CAD) is diagnosed by a build up of plaque or a blockage in one of the arteries near the heart muscle. Other symptoms include a feeling of tightness (known as angina) in any of the following:

  • Chest
  • Upper abdomen
  • Arms
  • Neck
  • Back
  • Jaw

Our treatment for this condition varies based on each patient’s specific needs. Some of our treatment options include suggesting a healthy diet and exercise, using medication, stent procedures, angioplasty, or even bypass surgery. Having a family history of CAD, high blood pressure, smoking, a high fat diet, obesity, a sedentary lifestyle, and constant emotional stress are some of the risk factors that may lead to developing this condition. Leaving this condition untreated can lead to a heart attack, ischemic stroke, hemorrhagic stroke, or blood clot – which can result in death.
