Advanced Care, No Hospital Stay Required

Outpatient Cath Lab & Interventional Procedures in Florence, AL

Our outpatient cath lab, opened in 2017, was the first in the Shoals area to offer outpatient diagnostic imaging and peripheral vascular treatment in a single visit. Instead of being referred to a hospital for imaging and then scheduled separately for treatment, most patients can have both done here, in one appointment, and go home the same day.

We were also among the first in the region to offer radial artery (wrist) access for peripheral procedures, an approach that's generally more comfortable and allows for a quicker recovery than the traditional groin approach. Our cath lab focuses specifically on peripheral arterial and peripheral venous interventions, meaning procedures involving the vascular system outside the heart itself, performed with the same equipment and techniques used in advanced interventional cardiology.

If vascular testing has pointed toward a blockage or circulation problem in your legs, request an appointment and we'll talk through your options.

What to Expect

What Our Cath Lab Offers

Our outpatient cath lab combines imaging, such as Peripheral Angiography, with same-visit treatment for peripheral vascular conditions. That might mean Peripheral Revascularization to restore blood flow through a narrowed artery, or Iliocaval IVUS and Stenting for more complex vein blockages, such as those related to May-Thurner Syndrome. Every procedure is performed by Dr. Naidu, who has trained other physicians on these same techniques.

Latest Devices Used in Our Interventional Cardiology Procedures

Boston Scientific has recognized our cath lab as a training site, where other interventional physicians come to learn Dr. Naidu's approach to venous and arterial stenting. That relationship means our practice stays current on the latest catheter-based technology and technique for peripheral procedures, without you having to travel to a larger city to access it.

A Note on What We Do and Don't Treat

Our interventional focus is entirely on peripheral vascular disease: the arteries and veins outside the heart, most often in the lower body. We do not perform cardiac catheterization or other procedures involving the heart's own blood vessels. If your primary concern is a cardiac condition requiring hospital-based intervention, Dr. Naidu will help direct you to the right resource.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will I need to go to a hospital for this procedure?

No. Our cath lab procedures are performed entirely on an outpatient basis in our Florence office. Most patients go home the same day with simple recovery instructions, avoiding the cost and inconvenience of a hospital stay.

What is radial artery access, and why does it matter?

Radial artery access means the catheter is inserted through an artery in your wrist rather than your groin. For eligible patients, it typically means less discomfort, a lower risk of certain complications, and a faster return to normal activity. Dr. Naidu will determine whether this approach is right for your specific procedure.

How long is recovery after an outpatient cath lab procedure?

Recovery time varies depending on the specific procedure performed, but many patients resume light activity within a day or two. Dr. Naidu will give you personalized aftercare instructions based on exactly what was done during your visit.

How do I find an outpatient cath lab near me?

We perform outpatient cath lab procedures right here in our Florence office. We also offer online scheduling to make booking easy. Request an appointment and we'll find a time that works. We look forward to seeing you.
